Here comes Peter Cottontail...

My Easter collection...

Lily modeling the bunny for size reference. The bunny is slightly larger than the chick, due to the ears.

A collection of holiday clippies.

For those of you that have been interested in the sculpted clippies from the past couple days, I went back and re-posted pictures of Lily modeling the Dragonfly and the Bumblebee. This should give you an idea of the size of these clips. Remember...they would also be great attached to a hat or headband! I will try to snap a couple pictures of one on a hat.

What other holiday clips would you be interested in seeing? It could be a completely different holiday...or even a different type of clip for a holiday already represented. I would love your suggestions!

Tomorrow: Everyone's favorite girl Mouse!

Butterflies & Dragonflies

Short post tonight. Been a long day.

This is the 2nd set of bug clips I have to show you this week. Butterflies & Dragonflies.

I added a couple pictures of my daughter, Lily, wearing the Dragonfly clip. This should give you an idea of the size of the clips.

Tomorrow: Easter sculpted clips

Have a great night everyone!

Bugs, Bees and Bows

I've had some fun with ribbon this week, after taking advantage of a 50% off sale at Michael's! I have several projects to show you over the next few days. Most of them will be hairbows, but I am hoping to show you a ribbon home decor project this weekend! That is the one I am most excited about!

First up: Ladybugs & Bumblebees

Lily modeling the Bumblebee clip, for size reference.

The hairbows are on fully-lined 1.75" steel alligator clips. All ribbon is heat sealed to prevent fraying. Completed bows are baked & starched for durability. The Bumblebee is finished off with a 5mm Swarovski crystal.

Tomorrow: Butterflies & Dragonflies

Oh Baby! pt 3

In addition to all the "sweets" in the baby shower gift basket, I added these wooden letters of the baby's initials. They were made to match the baby's bedroom, done in pink, red, green and ladybugs.

I decoupaged patterned paper onto the letters with ModPodge. It leaves a very shiny finish, which I liked for a little girl. However, I am experimenting with other types of adhesive for a more matte finish. If anyone has a suggestion...I'd love to know what has worked for you!

Even with the shine from the ModPodge, I added Martha Stewart fine glitter (color: Crystal) to the mix before coating the tops of the letters. A little ribbon, Stickles, and ladybug embellishments...and Ta-Da! It's complete.

Just as a side note: I LOVE my MS fine glitter in Crystal. I find a use for it in many of my projects. If you are looking for a good multi-use glitter, I highly suggest it. It is super-fine which provides a great overall glimmer without being over-bearing. And I love the fact that you can't see each individual flake of glitter like so many others. It isn't the cheapest glitter out there, but don't let the price scare you off. A little goes a LONG way.

Enough about that. Thanks for stopping by! Tomorrow: the 4th and final Oh Baby! posting. On today's agenda: making hairbows!

Oh Baby! pt 2

Last posting, I showed you a "Sweets" gift basket I made for a baby shower. Here is a close-up of the baby cupcakes that made the centerpiece of the gift.

The cupcakes were made with 4 pairs of socks, 4 diapers and 4 washcloths. They were tied with ribbon and served up in a cupcake bakery box.

As a first attempt, I was pretty excited at the way they turned out. However, I did learned lots of tips and tricks to make them even better the next time!

Stay tuned for Part 3 of the baby gift, tomorrow!

Happy Crafting! :)

Oh Baby! pt 1

I've had a busy and fun week of crafting! My mom's co-worker is expecting a baby girl in a few weeks and Mom asked me to make something extra special for her. This is what we came up with...

This gift basket includes:

2 large, receiving blanket lollipops

3 small washcloth lollipops & attached spoon

2 receiving blanket jelly rolls

washcloth peppermints

and lots of washcloth candies!
A standard "sweets" gift basket includes: 16 washcloths, 4 receiving blankets, 4 pair of socks, 4 diapers and 3 baby spoons made into lollipops, candies and cupcakes. My Mom added on a diaper wipes holder, letters for name initials, and a pair of sunglasses.

Be sure to check in later this week for more information & pictures of the wall letters, diaper wipes holder and "babycakes".

Happy Anniversary, TAGS!

My husband is part of a local board gaming group, called the Tidewater Area Gaming Society, or TAGS for short. This month, they celebrated their 5th Anniversary! He asked me to make some special cookies for their game day last weekend. This is what we came up with...

The "5's" are due to it being their 5th anniversary. The people are actually a type of game piece, called "meeples".

Hope you have a "sweet" day!

Thanks a Melon!

I made this fun little Thank You card from the "Just Because Cards" Cricut cartridge.

The watermelon was attached with pop-dots to add dimension
Both the watermelon, and the word "melon" were painted with a Flamingo pink Liquid Pearls glaze.

I hope to be back over the weekend with lots of pictures of some baby shower gifts I am making!

Jacob's New Room pt.2

Just a quick post of the project I finished this morning. Then I'm moving away from vinyl for the rest of the day to tackle some ribbon projects.

You may remember the post I did of Jacob's room...this vinyl wall art was inspired by his bedding. It is on one wall, above his dresser/changing table.

(By the way, the picture in the frame is NOT a picture of Jacob.)

Vinyl Obsession

I LOVE craft vinyl! I think it is one of the coolest inventions and the craft medium I reach for most often. Hopefully, you love it as well...or maybe you will grow to love it, because I promise-you will see it alot!

Here is my newest vinyl creation. It's a project I've had in my head for quite some time, though I've never mentioned it to my husband. So I thought I would surprise him with it when he came home from church last night. From start to finish, it took 2 hours. And that includes the 5 different ways I designed it in Cricut Design Studio before finally narrowing it down to my favorite one.

The coloring in this picture makes the name look pink, but it gives you an idea of the size & positioning on the fireplace.
Details:
Vinyl used: OhMyVinyl in Peanut Butter, Cherry Red, and Walnut
Cartridges used: Home Decor, Plantin SchoolBook, & Wall Decor and More

I have a few more vinyl home decor projects planned. Hoping to work on another one this afternoon if the kiddos will nap!

Happy Monday, everyone!

Birthday Cookies

I made some birthday cookies this week for a dear friend of my Mom's. They were by far my favorite to decorate, and I love the finished product. The design is not my own, it was taken from my favorite cookie maker, Sweet Sugarbelle. Her creations are AMAZING, and my inspiration to get into cookie decorating.

I have 1 more set of cookies to make this coming week for a friends bachelor party. Then, I am moving away from cookies for a little while. I have a table full of new craft supplies I am dying to dig into!

Bright, Colorful & Cheery!

Mini's

Close-up detail. The pink one on the right is my favorite in the whole batch

Lily's conversation with me- "I not gonna eat 'em? They not for Lily? They for Nanah's friend. I just gonna pretend, Momma!"

Quick Recap

Just a quick post to re-cap the projects I have done the past few weeks. I know this posting is long overdue, but hopefully now that my household is healthy again, I can get back into a routine.

Valentine from Lily...using stamps and her fingerprints

Another handmade Valentine using fingerprints

This Valentine idea is not original by me, but I honestly don't remember where I came across it. It is such a neat idea for loved ones far away. I drew and cut out Lily's handprints and had her stamp on them with acrylic paint/sponges. I cut a piece of ribbon the length of her outstretched arms and attached it to the back of the handprints. Using small circle velcro pieces, I attached the handprints to the paper. I wrote out the saying and attached it using pop dots. (I wish I would have taken the time to type up the saying, but by this point Lily was so done with craft time!) The idea behind the valentine is the person can detach the handprints and wrap them around themselves for a special "Lily hug" from far away. :)

Hope you are all enjoying the day! It's a gorgeous one here in VA, hoping for some outside playtime with the kids on this long holiday weekend.

Sweets for my Sweets

I can't believe it's been almost 2 weeks since my last post! I have had a very sick household. Thankfully, I have managed to avoid most of it. That has been a huge blessing since I have been busy taking care of everyone else! My husband has had a cold for weeks, my daughter has a sinus infection & brochitis and my baby boy has a cold & bad ear infection. It's scary & heartbreaking when little ones are so sick. :(

Needless to say, I haven't had a ton of time to craft. I do have lots of pending projects filling my craft table at the moment. And I'm expecting 2 shipments of goodies by the end of the week! Now if I can only find the time...

For now, check out these Valentine's cookies I made for my sweet family!

I made these mini's for Lily.
They are the perfect size for little kiddos.
But I'll admit, the mini cookies are my favorites to make!

I thought they looked like the Conversation Hearts, so I wanted to give it a try.
Not bad, but needs some tweaking.

Hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! I'm off to attempt handmade Valentine's cards with Lily. If all goes well, I'll post them tomorrow!
